He was the quiet one…with the clear blue eyes slanted down
at the corners …puppy dog eyes. His curly blond hair framed his face…the
Hollywood good looks...the Matthew McConaughey good looks.
He was the middle child. He had two older siblings; a sister
and a brother to look up to…to measure up to…to compete with. He had two younger siblings; a sister and a
brother…to set an example for…to compete with.
A heady role for any young boy.
If David had a dream I expect it would go something like this.
He dreamed of living in a household where everyone had your
back. His dream was a reality. He had
siblings and parents who adored him. He took on meaningful roles in his young
life ~ volunteering with the local RCMP. He wanted to join their ranks ~ but
there was another plan for David.
He dreamed of meeting a lovely young woman to share his life
and who would love him and his ‘family-to-be’ as much as he did. His wife and
three children were the lights in his life. He took on the role as husband and father
as seriously as a surgeon would undertake a lifesaving procedure. David’s dream
was a reality.
He dreamed of providing for his family in a way not many
could. He was driven in this quest. Success became both his friend and his
nemesis. Everything he touched turned to
gold. This same success carried with it the demons that he couldn’t resist.
Time after time he resisted ~ only to falter many times over. His dream of being an exceptional provider
was a reality.
He dreamed of joining his Dad one day. A Dad whom he adored
and who left the earth in the human form many years ago. His dream became a
reality for the family a little too soon.
Your time here was finished.
