Valentine’s Day has come…and gone. A day when many countries around the world celebrate the day…professing their love for their families and lovers.
A good day indeed. My day was quiet. Then late in the afternoon, the door opens, letting in a gust of wind and flurries of snow. An armload of pink roses, bottles of Chardonnay, and a bag with lobster and fresh rolls from the bakery adorned his arms. With a big grin, a deep hug and a kiss, he proceeded to prepare our Valentine supper feast.
I set up the table before the fireplace, lit the candles, placed floor cushions, poured the wine in sparkley glasses, and we feasted. Yes, it was a good day; a day on a calendar that reminds us to take the moment…to give thanks to the love(s) in our lives.
The past while, he has been busy. We have spent so much time together in the past 2 years; yet, lately not so much. He is vying for a nomination in the political arena. He wants to be the voice…and an advocate…for people who deserve to be represented in an honest fashion. My worry…is he too honest to be a politician? Is this his purpose….to infuse some honesty into this profession? They say perception is everything. And the perception now is ….there needs to be a change. Will he be the champion of this change? I can answer all these questions…honestly…but then I am biased. The next few months will tell the tale. In the meantime, we keep our heads down and stay focused on the task at hand.
And like last evening…we start each day…thankful for the Love in our lives!
